Welcome back to the One Funnel Away: Stories show! Today, I’m taking the time to clear up some common misconceptions about funnels. A lot of people ask me whether or not they even need a funnel. I may be the first person to tell you this, but if you’ve ever made a sale, then you’ve used a funnel.
The question you ask shouldn’t be why you need a funnel but instead when! I’m going to walk you through what a funnel is and isn’t as well as when you should implement one into your sales strategy. What Is a Funnel
If you’re asking why you need a funnel, then it’s likely you’re not clear on what one is. A funnel is not a series of pages. Surprise! It’s only two things; first an offer and second a message. ClickFunnels didn’t invent funnels. They have been around since we started making transactions.

I have a perfect example to illustrate this concept. Back when I was at my door to door sales days, I was the funnel. I was knocking on doors selling pest control services. The same goes for standing on a stage and delivering a message and an offer. In those capacities, I am the human version of a funnel.
Funnels are so powerful because they create leverage. If you ever have sold anything, then you’ve created a funnel. There’s a good chance, it wasn’t a great funnel, especially if it wasn’t crafted with intent and understanding of human buying psychology. But it was a funnel.
In summation, a funnel is nothing more than a message and an offer, and we use ClickFunnels to create leverage. It’s the beauty of automation, which allows our message to reach a broad audience and results in a clear understanding of what’s happening in the marketplace.
When To Use a Funnel

First, you need a great offer and message. Without those two things in place, you’re setting up your funnel to fail. At the beginning of the One Funnel Away Challenge, we don’t even talk about funnels. The first two weeks are dedicated to crafting the perfect foundation.
It’s also important to remember that publishing online is a method, not a funnel. It’s the method we use to deliver the funnel. And what I want to do is show you guys when entrepreneurs need a funnel, I'm a big fan of the principle that questions invite revelation, and a lot of you guys are asking the wrong question. So you're getting weird answers. So let's go let's change this question real quick. It's not why it's win. Okay. And so that really answer this question. First of all, who is a win win? Does every entrepreneur fall? You have to first understand what a funnel actually is? a funnel is it's not a series of pages now you have lost Steven oh my gosh, this series of pages. That's not you're saying it's not a funnel. Okay? The funnel is really only two things. First, you got to know that a funnel was never invented by Click Funnels funnels were never invented by Russell funnels have been around since the first caveman traded a piece of meat for a rock, okay. And it's because of this one. is a funnel First of all, and it will help us answer when and why you need the funnel itself. Okay? So let's go into this. A sales funnel is an offer. That's the first thing and number two is a message. Okay, a sales message. Now when you think back to like when I was in my door to door sales days any I know you guys got a lot of in here listening or watching now you might be in the door to a sales game or you've done that I was also a telemarketer. And when I was in that space, I was the funnel, right? I was walking around knocking on doors. Hey, what's up, we're servicing the Joneses down the street. We spray your house I was selling pest control, right? I was the message and the offer. I was the deliver of those two things. I was the funnel. If I stand on a stage, and I have a message and give an offer. I'm the funnel. One of the reasons why funnels is so powerful is because they create leverage. And so people always ask like Steven, how come? How come I need one of these sales funnel things are I don't think I really need a funnel or you know what's even I've never actually had a funnel before. Was that true? If you sold now ask him like whatever you're doing right now, if you have sold anything to anyone ever at any time, at any point, even by accident, you had a funnel, you already did. Okay? It's just you probably didn't craft the offer with intent. You didn't craft the message with intent and and with human behavior psychology and so your funnel probably sucked there. So you have to understand that this is what a funnel is. It's nothing more than a message and an offer. And the reason we put it on something like clickfunnels is because it creates leverage, think about what I get when I actually go and I put a sales funnel on something like Click Funnels or build some kind of recurring sales process. I get to, I get to automate. Now for thousands of people who are going to see the sales funnel and see these pages, every single one of them is seeing the exact same message. They're receiving the exact same offer. And because of that, I get a really clear look at what's happening inside of the marketplace. Right really, really clear look Okay, I get to automate. Number two I get to scale, I get to scale. I get to turn up traffic I get to pull back traffic, but the biggest thing it gives you overall, there's one big word on why you need to build a sales funnel. And the The reason is leverage. Just leverage. Right right now let's say that right now while we're filming this right John's brown the camera right there, we're filming. Now let's take a pause for a moment here. Because a lot of you might be thinking like, well, Steve, don't have a message and an offer. Right? If the question is get so you guys with me still on this. Think about this here with me. When do you need a funnel, a funnel, like I said as a messaging app. offer. So first of all, you need a message and an offer. Oh, is that why the first two weeks and the one phone away challenge our first offer and the message, right? No, yeah, it's offering the message. We don't even talk about funnels in the one funnel away challenge to week three. Did you know that and you know, that's why we do that. If you have this amazing thing that creates leverage for you, my friends, amazing thing, but you have a crappy message and you have a crappy offer. Well, no wonder you might think funnels suck or that funnels don't work. you're leveraging crap. Right? Which is why week one and week two, back to the message back there. Are you guys with me? I'm not just asking you, like, does this make sense to you? Okay, and when you like, say it back or write it down or whatever, I'm gonna ask like, Hey, guys, what's the funnel gonna be like? It's a message an offer? I'm gonna be like, yeah, Susie asik High five. Because the fact again that we put it online is a method on a funnel. It's a method of delivering a funnel. Okay, so let's go through here real quick again. I'm going to go in and I'm I'm going to first figure out my offer, right? And I'm going to, then I'll figure out the message that sells the offer. Right? And then I'm going to go in and I'm going to create the sales funnel itself, really the what is the funnel? You're just automating the delivery of these two things. That's all it really is. That's all a funnel is. So when really answers why a lot more, because if you've sold anything ever, you already had a funnel. Guys, thanks so much for being a part of this episode. It's a short one. But there's one most powerful lessons I can tell you on what a funnel is, and is not. I'll tell you also that there's several companies that when I worked at clickfunnels, the Russell and I would build these funnels for and they didn't understand this, right. They didn't understand that we always had to teach him. Okay, I was going to teach him that. No, no, we're just going to take your existing stuff. Is it a good message? Like Yeah, yeah, it is like, oh, cool, then we're not really going to touch it. We're just gonna, we're just gonna put it online. Right? Or like, is it a good offer? You'd be like, yeah, it could be some work. So we'd go tweak it, you know, put our take our tools out, make it better, make it more attractive and then just put it online. Right. Someone's My very first actually the internet, cable will history story, right? The Internet became publicly available in America in 1991. Before that, it was widely used just by the military to transfer packet the data. In 1991, internet became publicly available. And all of these smart direct response marketers start licking their chops, right? direct response marketers direct response. Why is it called that? why they call the sales letter? Well, it's because these guys back in the day were actually mailing physical letters. Most of you probably know that maybe somebody didn't. They were literally mailing you a sales letter, direct response. They're wanting to get a direct response from the person who's trying to sell that's why it's called what it is. Well, they start looking around. Internet wasn't available now suddenly, is what do they What are they been doing? They've got this sales letter message. They've got these amazing offers and wasn't working beforehand. Yeah. And so what did they do? They didn't change the message really, they didn't change the offer, they just put it on a web page. funnel. Okay? a funnel is not a page or series of pages, it is a message and is an offer. And in fact, we put it on Click Funnels, I'm saying this all again. So just ingrained in your head, the factory, put it on Click Funnels, which is world class and best in class is a method. And it lets us automate it lets us get leverage. And it lets us measure if the market is liking at a big scale, what we're delivering to it. I hope this has made sense to you guys.
